    Horrible FPS

My friend and I are getting like 20 fps starting from the beginning of a MP game. We both have thousand dollar computers built within the last year.

Yeah, I also have really bad fps with a good computer!

If it's no constant, I have the same problem. Found the bug/glitch that gave me extreme fps drops...

    Re: Horrible FPS

I've been having the same issue. I have an ATI HD6870. I just tried the second suggestion here: http://forums.ageofempiresonline.com/forums/thread/355028.aspx to Disable display scaling on high DPI settings and it seems like I'm no longer having FPS issues.

I'll keep testing to see if that fixes it for me.

    Re: Horrible FPS

Thanks for the answer, kinda fixed it for me too!

    Re: Horrible FPS

It seem to fix my FPS issue in single player, but I'm still having multiplayer issues. If I mouse down over the mini map and drag my view around I notice a definite FPS drop which makes me think its some kind of video issue.. I'm wondering if that is then carrying over into making my multiplayer partners lag too.

I also have 3 monitors so I'm going to mess around with disabling some of them to see if that helps.

    Re: Horrible FPS

    Same issue here.  I have a Phenom II 955 @ 4.0GHz and a Radeon 5850 @ 850/1200.

When I first start a game, I get a solid 60 FPS. The FPS slowly deteriorates, and after about 10 minutes I'm only getting 5-10 FPS.

    Re: Horrible FPS

I noticed no FPS lag whatsoever with one monitor on my HD 6870. As soon as I enable two monitors, I start seeing a bit of framerate stuttering. Once I enable all 3 of my monitors my FPS is such a bother that other players start to notice lag. (I'm hosting the game).

While disabling the monitor makes it go away, that's not really something I want to be doing. I'm going to keep experimenting. If you're having FPS issues try only using one monitor. At least it makes the issue with clicking applications off the edge of screen not a bother ;)

Also found this post: http://www.reddit.com/r/aoe2/comments/1bqvku/hd_version_is_anyone_elses_copy_of_the_game/  on the aoe2 subreddit.

Suggesting to disable scoreboard text. I don't have anyone to test with in MP to see if it fixes it right now, but I'll check it out later.

    Re: Horrible FPS

Another suggestion out there that seemed to work for me...

Override graphical settings through AMD CCC or Nvidia by creating a specific Application Profile for HD.exe

This way I put Vsync, triple-buffered and it helped heaps with the scrolling issue. I also forced Texturing Filtering and Anti-Aliasing... not sure if they are applied, but oh well.

    Re: Horrible FPS

I'm getting horrid FPS in single player; I haven't tried the MP. It's essentially unplayable. I have a Phenom 1100T and GTX 680. I've tried both overriding the gaming profile in the NVidia control panel and disabling the high DPI (separately and together), as mentioned in this thread, and updated the drivers. Has anyone found any other solutions that worked?

    Re: Horrible FPS

I'm also getting very low FPS:

    • 15 FPS when in fullscreen
    • 20 FPS when windowed
    • 30 FPS when I make the window as small as possible
I would have thought my computer would be able to handle the game, but maybe not...
    • 1680 x 1050
    • Core 2 Duo 2.4 GHz
    • GeForce 7600 GS
Anyone running the game fine with lower or similar specs?

    Re: Horrible FPS

My Brother and me are having Lags too. in Single and Multiplayer. Both of us have the same Laptops just the CPU's are different. i have an i5-480M he has an i5-2340M. We are using Kaspersky Pure 2 as AV. Our graphiccard is the Nvidia GeForce GT-540M.

The interresting thing is, that my lags in MP cause Lags by my friends (where the game runs fluently).

    Thats my DXDiag:  http://de.scribd.com/doc/134368846/DxDiag

Still no official acknowledgement regarding the lag issues that a lot of people seem to be having...

Whats going on? Let us know!

I'm eagerly waiting for a fix/solution/workaround/whatever so I can play!

We are currently investigating the multiplayer lag issue. In the meantime, please check if the solutions suggested in the Steam forums work for you:

    1. Forward your ports.
    http://steamcommunity.com/app/221380/discussions/2/828935361235943414/
www.portforward.com (if you have no idea how.)

    2. Disable the in-game scorelist (F4 in-game).
This bloody scorelist brings the game to a standstil, have everyone you play with during mp disable this. It's fine if you check the score for 1-2 seconds, it will just cause everyone to lag while you check the score. Keep it to a BARE MINIMUM.

    3. I also noticed steam toast notifications also slows the game down in the same way the scorelist does. Whenever I, or my friend received in-game messages via steam, the game would noticably slow down.
