    Player numbers dropping?

Has anyone else noticed the number of players seems to have dropped off in the last week?

    Is the Steam honeymoon over?

    Re: Player numbers dropping?

of course they are dropping. we dont get frequent enough patches to keep players interested in this game. there is also a lack of advertising which leads to people not even knowing from the existence of this game

I dont lose because by opponent played good, only because i played bad.

The summer update will bring another big boost, the game is hobbling along ATM but it isn't dead.

    Re: Player numbers dropping?

if they will never start advertising this game, this game will die completly for sure. the summer update is pretty much our last hope.

    Re: Player numbers dropping?

if its like this i doubt i come back to aoeo. i never really had the opportunity( i was never reallyay active) to practise and get good in this game at all. not a single good player is online these days.

    Re: Player numbers dropping?

Well doing same quests over and over is kind of boring after a couple months.... they can make all quest a legendary version.

And no more Civs if not more end game maps, its  just up to argos then is all same again,

I Think all civs must have diferent end game contents and we co op with diferent civs THAT must be good allways fighting greeks.... WHY not persia or eggy or celts legendary theme maps?????

Going to play diablo 3 now, just do marion and elite meet now lolol

All the good players left. It's been like this for a long time. You get a marginal boost whenever a patch is released, but as soon as people get bored by the repetitiveness again they will move on to something else (like me).  I am pretty much done with AoEO, there's just no magic that keeps me playing (unlike the genie based games, which are in every way superior).

Where do you go to find the number of users in game across all servers?

I notice you joined since 1/5/2011 and i cant blame yea : D 2 years is pretty good!

I think there are a few things that help keep this game alive for a very long time but you'll never know seeing GW2 is around the corner :3 anyway

    1. LINK every servers to 1 match making system. Make it like cross over and it will be great for the alliance update. why? because match making will be quick.

     2. epic and leg items make me a trader and pretty much 99% of the population has turned to trading. So adding more news items with each big update is a good star.

    3. This game made us all greedy players. So giving some good reward to the losers that pvp is a good start because wasting 20-40 minute and getting nothing or worst broken item is not cool, but you're cool if you add more idea  :D

    Re: Player numbers dropping?

I think a big part of the problem is the fact that you can't hop on for half an hour and get a lot of play time in.  This game is just like the older AoE's.  You need to commit an hour or two, to get anything meaningful accomplished.  It took me 2 1/2 hours to do a few missions last night.  Granted I like to explore every inch of the map, and totally destroy the enemy force in the process, as well as find all of the treasure.  For me, that's not a problem, but a lot of people will see that as a turnoff, as they all want instant gratification, not play ONE quest for 40 minutes just to get a few goodies for their civ.  The problem is, there is no real way around that, without destroying the core of the gameplay.
