Discuss the "Empire Points" Blog Post Here!

    Ave, all!

When the Summer Update launches (no set date, but 5-7 weeks from now), the way you purchase content will change. Age of Empires Online will truly become free to play if you choose. How will this work?

After the Summer Update, we will no longer accept real money for civilizations, booster packs, vanity items, or anything else in the store. All content for AOEO will be purchased with Empire Points, and Empire Points will be earned as you play. Therefore, if you spend sufficient time playing the game, you will eventually be able to unlock all the content in the game. If you don’t have extra time, and would like to buy the content immediately, we will sell Empire Points to you, which you can spend on anything you like.

Re: Discuss the "Empire Points" Blog Post Here!

    Sounds about right.

But will Empire points be converted 1:1? The current ratio is 1:5 if you buy advisors and sell them.

EDIT: Byzantine. Sounds quite Roman to me? But I didn't even start looking for the clue...

EDIT2: Apostate beat me to post the 2nd clue.

Re: Discuss the "Empire Points" Blog Post Here!

Yeah, the conversion ratio for empire points to coin better be higher than 1:1.

As for "clear as mudbricks", where in the world did they use those again? ..

It all sounds great, but I'm with Alexastor here, be nice to know what the conversion rate will be.  Will give a chance for players to decide if they want to have the auto conversion or spend the points on stuff prior to the update.

     Thanks

Yeah, I've stumbled across that one as well right after. As I still think Romans will be Free/Premium it's likey that a Pro civ will be out earlier.

Together with the babbling on, I might think more and more Babylon, although I'm still thinking that we'll see Phoenicia sooner or later. Both would actually make sense with the teased Alexander the Great.

So on top of season passers getting EP trickle, will we still get all content for the next year as promised?

The conversion rate is 10:1, if you have 100 EP you'll get 1,000 coin.

Yes. As stated in the Feb 23 blog post, Season Pass holders will receive all Civilizations and Boosters until August 15 2013. You will also receive more than a trickle of EP.

Thank you for having purchased the Season Pass.

Will lucky tickets and other items currently available for EP still be available for EP? That might lead to a direct conversion from real money to ingame coin.

Re: Discuss the "Empire Points" Blog Post Here!

"Young turks", what an odd, antiquated phrase.

Could point to Turks, probably not likely, may refer to "Turkic tribes". Could be hint to a wider central asian civilization, maybe Huns or Scythians.

(wishful thinking, Im prob getting punked)

Re: Discuss the "Empire Points" Blog Post Here!

I asked around on dutch gamesites, and 90% of the reactions was something like: if it gets really F2P, I will come play again.

I really like the way this game is going, this is a very good decision! Still,I will keep buying the content anyway. I hate grinding, the reason I stopped playing wow = grinding.
