Idea [I] SOLUTION: “Missing a valid product key” / “Enter your Product Key”

If you are having the “Missing a valid product key” / “Enter your Product Key” or
“Can’t Sign in because your product Key is not Valid.  Please Enter a Valid Product Key” errors

    We have a solution:

To find and enter the LIVE access code:
    Exit Age of Empires Online
Go to start --> Programs -->  Microsoft Games for Windows Marketplace Client and launch the GFWL Marketplace Client.
Sign into the marketplace client with your LIVE username / pass (Same as you use to sign into the game).

    Navigate to the Download Tab
    Select “Age of Empires Online”
    Click “View Game Keys”
Write down the LIVE access code.

Launch Age of Empires Online and, when you receive the error simply press “Try Again” and enter the LIVE access code in the space required.

What if it says the key is already in use? How do we fix that?

It would be nice if the marketplace was actually working.

thats right. i cant even log in to marketplace. the support page that the marketplace client suggests me does not exist. thats a shame.

i quitted this game because of that non-working games 4 windows live / marketplace thing.

i was so happy when i saw aoeo came to steam, because i thought i could play now without g4wlive.

Once again, GFWL thwarts my attempts to actually play games.  What a pain.

40 minutes and game don't lauched. First instalation, then coded login errors (hidden terms of use), in third marketplace don't launched because of some "network errors" that marketplace cant find. Its hard work to play microsoft games.

Re: SOLUTION: “Missing a valid product key” / “Enter your Product Key”

This is an excellent way to showcase the wonderful world of Games for Windows.  Not being able to play a free game is a nice touch.  I also can't get the marketplace to load and the launcher is no help at all for finding a solution.  You've taught me a valuable lesson here... I wont buy games that require Live to work and now I wont be playing the free stuff either for the same reason.  Bravo... you're really reaching an untapped market of animosity.

Re: SOLUTION: “Missing a valid product key” / “Enter your Product Key”

This is a lot of work for a game that is supposed to be free. Not that it matters since GFWL is apparently not working right now. Why in the wide wide world of sports do I need any sort of validation key for a free game? I would love to see you people just be honest and admit you're trying to push people out of pc gaming. Not that you will validate this with any sort of response.

    Hello all,

The "already in use" issue is on the Games for Windows Live side.  Unfortunately that is not something I can help you with directly.  The best way to get this resolved is to reach out for support through GFWL support: support.xbox.com/contactus

If we get any additional information we will let you know.

Re: SOLUTION: “Missing a valid product key” / “Enter your Product Key”

Im not going to waste any more of my time on a free game that you have to jump through hoops to try the support provided and then find out the support doesnt work anyway ( I went through these steps as well as others posted here) Ill cut my loss now (glad I didnt automatically buy the expansions/booster) Ill just go uninstall and play a free game that works.

Re: SOLUTION: “Missing a valid product key” / “Enter your Product Key”

    This is just *** goofy...

It doesn't even say that I have the game downloaded. Haha.

    Really, Microsoft?

When is Google going to finally take up making operating systems for computers? The customers need a company that knows what they are doing.
