Many of you loyal forum goers have been disheartened that you have yet to receive a Beta invitation. Your disappointment has not fallen on deaf ears! I'm pleased to announce that we have opened up our first Beta key competition: the Age of Empires photo editing contest.  Be it funny, creative, beautiful, or outright goofy we want to see your original artwork. Check out our ‘Media' and ‘Downloads' pages for several images to get you started or create something completely original!

Age of Empires Online Wallpaper Photo Editing Contest Rules:

• Create any unique Age of Empires themed image
• You must submit your entry no later than 12PM (Noon) PDT (UTC-8) on Friday, October 22, 2010
• The file size must be smaller than 1MB
• One entry per person
• You must be 18 or older to participate in the AOEO Beta program
• A winner will be selected by BatsyBatsy and myself... probably mostly by BatsyBatsy
• The winning entries and honorable mentions will be posted to our Facebook page with credit given to the artist
• No obscene or offensive content will be considered
• Do not infringe upon others copyrights

Submission Process

Email your submission in a .JPEG, .PNG, .BMP, or .GIF format to community@ageofempiresonline.com with "Contest" in the subject line.  The files should be no larger than 1mb.

It can be hand drawn, stick figures, horribly done cut and pasting in paint, amazing photoshop work, and if you want you can start with some of the screens we have on the media page.

We're giving you guys permission to use and alter our art work just for this contest.

i hate stuff like this. I have no artistic talent but i do have a strong want to play the beta.

I remember the first job I ever had, boss wanted me to design a header graphic website.  In my mind I was panicking like no other, I had no artistic talent, no idea how to use even the most rudimentary imaging software.

But not wanting to lose my job I Googled how to do it and now it's pretty fun making website banners.

I love graphic design. I'm by no means an expert but I think I have pretty good artistic taste so I can make some pretty good looking stuff. None of the images from the fansite kit or anything are really looking good to make a wallpaper with though... I'll figure something out before friday though.

 

Also one question. Are we supposed to be making a wallpaper or any kind of image we want?

First off, this contest doesn't take any "artistic" talent (I for one don't have a whole lot of artistic talent - I can't draw a straight line). We're looking for amazing wallpapers, funny wallpapers, ones that look like a 3 year old just learned how to use MS Paint but are funny. Use your imagination, have fun. It doesn't have to be done in photoshop - do it in paint! :) Pshaw to layers.

Second off, you can make any kind of image you want, preferably a wallpaper though. We'd like something that would be easy to showoff - those tend to be wallpapers. 

Get crazy, have fun, stay within the rules, but color outside of the lines.

Yeah, not much material to make wallpapers with, I had some ideas, but the screenshots in the fansite kit were too low res to make any modern wallpapers.

ok - so these are going to have to be humorous to win :D? I do like the idea - thanks guys - although I was hoping for some tournaments or something bigger (hint hint :P). I have a great idea :) I'll make two versions of it - so no one gets offended though - I hope that leaves it mysterious enough....

PS. Will there only be one winner? good luck to all whom enter. EDIT (just read there will be multiple winners in another thread)

Though I have no artistic talent, I am going for a try anyway, because I want to get into this beta, help you guys out finding all the bugs, and see how the game develops. (I also have two friends, who are in the beta), so I really hope I have a chance :)

Can you send more that one image??? If you have two ideas? 

This usually happens when an emailaddress doesn't exist (anymore) or has yet to be processed by the emailservers. They created the new emailaddress some hours ago, give it a few hours more.
